The Mosquito Patch is based in Baton Rouge, La., home of the fighting mosquito. GNC LIMITED, LLC was founded in 2009.

It seems we live inside a mosquito patch here in beautiful south Louisiana, aka Sportsman's Paradise. It is also "Mosquito Paradise" because they thrive here and overtake our very active outdoor activities like boating, camping, fishing, hunting, sports, and gardening. One day while at my son's baseball game (which seems to be the mosquito's prime feeding time) I sat swishing away the pests and, for the thousandth time, thought that I was tired of not having any protection other than those sprays that clearly state harmful if applied directly to skin. And where can you find an attractive and functional mosquito body net?

So my partner and I decided to search for something that would keep these mosquitoes away naturally and would not be harmful to the human body. In our research, we found out that thiamin (vitamin B1) was a natural deterrent to mosquitoes and other biting insects. Now we needed to find a way to get this thiamin (vitamin B1) onto our skin and to find a way to get it to emit from our bodies as well as to determine how much of this thiamin (vitamin B1) was needed to work effectively. Luckily, we found the perfect way to emit the vitamin. Let's just say that in our part of the country, we are experts at sweating. We determined that if we placed the thiamin (vitamin B1) on a transdermal patch with a time release, it would absorb into the blood stream fast and the body would soon discharge it through the pores of the skin as we naturally sweat. Now the whole body is protected from mosquitoes. It's even waterproof so you can swim or shower with it and still reap the benefits.

Our tests have shown that with the thiamin (vitamin B1) absorbed through our patch is slowly released over a 24 hour period and you are protected for at least 36 hours (sometimes longer).
